However, for students especially those in Form One – the subject was somehow challenging.

At Kijitonyama Secondary School, Madam Rukia, who is a dedicated Computer Science teacher, witnessed these struggles firsthand.
“Computer Science is new to many of our students,” she shares. “Concepts like computer parts, types of computers, and basic operations felt too complex for beginners. It was difficult for them to fully understand lessons through textbooks alone.” Madam Rukia Shares.
Beyond the technical challenges, many students also struggled to communicate what they had learned in English. Even when they understood the content, they lacked the confidence to express themselves in class.
The turning point came when students joined the Shule Direct Innovation Club.
Through interactive sessions and live demonstrations, learners were introduced to Computer Science in a practical and engaging way. Where students were able explore real computer components, learn how computers function, and practice using them step by step .
“The demonstrations changed everything,” Madam Rukia explains. “Students became excited about learning. They could finally see what I was teaching.”
Alongside hands-on learning, students began using Shule Direct’s digital learning platforms, which provide clear and simplified Computer notes aligned with the national curriculum, and this allowed learners to revise anytime and strengthen their understanding beyond the classroom.
Another major support has been Teacher Kidevu, Shule Direct’s AI-powered learning assistant, who breaks down difficult concepts into simple explanations. Teacher Kidevu has helped my students to learn faster and with greater confidence.
“Students ask Teacher Kidevu questions even after school,” says Madam Rukia. “They return to class more prepared and eager to participate.”
Over time, remarkable things have started to happen. Students who once struggled to speak in English can now at least confidently explain Computer concepts, participate in discussions, and support one another’s learning. The Club sessions created a safe space for practice, collaboration, and growth.
For Madam Rukia, teaching has become easier and more fulfilling.
“With Shule Direct, I am no longer teaching alone,” she says. “The Shule Durectors Innovation Club, the computer notes, and Teacher Kidevu support both my students and me. Learning has become enjoyable and effective.”
Today, Computer Science at Kijitonyama Secondary School has slowly transitioned from being a difficult subject to being a subject that students are willing and ready to learn about.
