Advancing Sustainable Digital Learning Systems

By Jenipher Lembe, –  April 18, 2026.

From 20–25 April 2026 in Oxford, England, Shule Direct is proud to be represented at the global stage through the participation of our Executive Director, Iku Lazaro, at the Skoll World Forum 2026.

The forum brings together social innovators, educators, policymakers, and changemakers from across the world to explore bold, practical solutions to some of today’s most pressing global challenges. For Shule Direct, this is an important opportunity to contribute to conversations shaping the future of education and digital learning.

Moving Beyond Pilots Toward Sustainable Systems

At Shule Direct, our work has continued to evolve beyond proof of concept. Over the years, we have seen the potential of digital learning to improve access to quality education for millions of learners. However, sustainable impact requires more than successful pilot projects.

Our focus today is centered on building digital learning systems that are:

  • Sustainable
  • Scalable
  • Inclusive
  • Rooted in the realities of classrooms across Tanzania

This means shifting from donor-dependent interventions toward long-term, government-backed solutions that can continue serving learners and teachers for years to come.

Empowering Teachers Through Technology and Support

At the heart of this journey are teachers.

We believe meaningful education transformation happens when teachers are empowered with the right tools, support systems, and opportunities to adapt to the changing learning environment. Through our platforms and initiatives, Shule Direct continues to work closely with educators to strengthen digital teaching and learning experiences.

Part of this work includes AI-powered support systems such as Teacher Kidevu, designed to assist teachers and learners through accessible, interactive, and responsive educational support.

Beyond technology, our commitment also includes mentorship, digital capacity strengthening, and creating learning environments that prepare students for the future while supporting teachers in practical and human-centered ways.

Contributing to Global Conversations on Education

Through engagements at the Skoll World Forum, Shule Direct is participating in important discussions around the future of education systems and innovation.

Some of the key questions guiding these conversations include:

  •  How do we build education systems that remain impactful beyond funding cycles?
  • How can AI meaningfully support teachers without adding pressure or complexity?
  • What does it take to scale innovation while maintaining human connection and local relevance?

These discussions are critical as education systems around the world continue to navigate rapid technological change, equity gaps, and the growing need for resilient learning ecosystems.

Building Connections for Greater Impact

Participating in the Skoll World Forum also creates opportunities for collaboration, shared learning, and partnership-building with organizations and leaders committed to advancing inclusive and resilient education systems globally.

As Shule Direct continues working toward equitable access to quality education, spaces like the Skoll World Forum provide valuable opportunities to exchange ideas, learn from global experiences, and strengthen collective action toward sustainable educational transformation.
